Wax vs. Sugar
HARD WAX VS SOFT WAX AND THE STORY OF SUGAR
There are two different types of wax: Hard & Soft. I use both depending on the area I'm waxing. Hard Wax is my preferred method as it only adheres to the hair, not the skin, making it far less painful than its sister, Soft Wax. I exclusively use Hard Wax on our most sensitive intimate areas not only to make your experience at The Vanity Room less painful but it allows me to be the perfectionist I am, as I can go over your skin more frequently, thus getting you as clean as possible. Soft Wax is my absolute favorite for any facial waxing, as well as legs, arms, back and chest. Soft Wax adheres to both the skin and the hair. Soft Wax has the propensity to remove the vellus hairs (peach fuzz) in one strip. It provides an extremely crips brow wax, and reduces the need for extreme tweezing. Friends don't let friends get waxed anywhere that uses Soft Wax on the more intimate waxing areas. Remember, we are new best friends!

History lesson: Sugaring is a tale as old as time! The Ancient Egyptians created sugar paste to removal all body hair in order to see a Pharaoh, since you were in the presence of a god.

Sugar is NOT wax or a scrub. It is a paste made from sugar, lemon, and water. There are so many wonderful reasons why Sugar is my specialty! Sugar works as a natural exfoliant, making your skin as smooth as possible. Because of its exfoliation benefits, you will see a decrease in ingrown hairs. Sugar has the propensity to remove shorter pieces of hair than wax, which makes it ideal for bikini season! Most of my clients will come to The Vanity Room twice a month during the summer or before a vacation to receive their usual wax/sugar service and then return every two weeks for their Sugar Bikini Service, since no one wants to break out their razor and ruin the growth cycles that we've worked so hard to align!

Sugar is no more or less painful than Hard Wax. We all experience pain differently. That being said, I always encourage my sensitive clients to avoid caffeine 24 hours prior to their hair removal service and take a pain reliever 30-45 minutes prior to their service. Typically we see the best sugaring results when a client comes every four weeks and follows their aftercare correctly and habitually. Perfection never happens overnight!
